When someone asks, I almost always say I am originally from Armenia, but I grew up in the US.

The other day at a party full of non Armenians, an elderly man was introducing himself and I gave my name, in a matter of seconds he said “where is your name from” before I could say it he said let me guess? “Is it Persian?” I said “close, but Armenian” he said oh yes Armenia. And then another non armenian man joined us who happened to be a historian, they then started to talk about the recent war with Azerbejan and I was shocked! I told them both, WoW you guys know so much about Armenia! I am impressed and then one of the wives chimed in saying how only Turkey is the only one in the world denying the Genocide! I was like wow!!! Then the historian man said he has several Armenian friends and he is very interested in the history and culture. That was a very very interesting encounter which makes me even more confident to say that I am Armenian who grew up in America.

That's amazing. I'm so glad that you feel proud of your multiculturalism!
